By giving to scholarship funds, Professor Vijay Gondhalekar is giving back to Grand Valley in a way that will benefit students for years to come.
“Grand Valley receives the lowest amount of public funding for universities in the state, and it’s hard,” Gondhalekar said. “Students are feeling it. We are all feeling it. And if I can help by giving back, it makes it a little easier for them.”
By saving the money he earns through teaching Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam preparatory classes, Gondhalekar, an Associate Professor of Finance in the Seidman College of Business, is funding scholarships that will help students within the Seidman College.
To recognize his commitment to students and excellent teaching record, Gondhalekar was the recipient of the 2011 “Outstanding Teacher Award.” He plans to dedicate the money he received to these funds.
“As a faculty member, I am a part of the Grand Valley family,” he said. “And I give back to show my appreciation for this great community.”
