Gary DeWitt is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and studied farm programs at Michigan State University. He is a board member of Michigan Turkey Producers Co-op, a company he founded in 1998 which raises 5 million tom turkeys annually. He was also the president, CEO and chairman of Bil Mar Foods, a family business founded in 1938 that merged with Sara Lee Corporation in 1987. Gary is heavily involved in West Michigan and has served on the boards of multiple organizations, including the Hope College Board and Old Kent Bank of Holland.
