For Steve Head, MBA Class of 2014, a Master’s degree was the next step to success.
After working at Microsoft, “I realized that I really needed a more robust degree,” Steve said. “I needed to pursue some kind of advanced education to get me to the next step in my career.”
Steve enrolled in Grand Valley to complete prerequisite courses that he would need for Master’s programs in accounting at other universities. That’s when he realized the quality of the professors, classes, and programs at Grand Valley.
“I changed my mind to actually say ‘I’m going to stick with Grand Valley for the rest of my Master’s program,” Steve said. “My undergraduate degree was at a school with a class of 600, but I’ve received more support and more guidance from my department here.”
Steve is the recipient of the Don Klein Graduate Scholarship in Accounting, which covers the full tuition cost of 33 credit hours.
“The scholarship meant that I was going to be able to continue attending classes,” Steve said. “I was worried about even being able to fund the coursework.”
Now, Steve is confident in his abilities, will finish the Master’s program quickly, and is working as an audit and tax intern at Crowe Horwath in Grand Rapids.
“In every sense of the word,” he said, “Grand Valley has really helped me.”
