Rosario Parada

Born in Mexico and raised in West Michigan, Rosario always knew she wanted to attend Grand Valley and study public administration. She hopes to one day work in the nonprofit sector to assist in youth resources, education, and preventative health.

“I feel there are a lack of resources for minorities and at-risk-youth in our society, and I would like to work to make a difference in their lives. I knew Grand Valley would help me accomplish this goal”, she said.

Things changed for Rosario when COVID-19 hit, causing her difficulty to pay for her summer semester.

Rosario reached out to the university’s Financial Aid office to see if there was anything they could do to help her, and they encouraged her to apply for the Student Support Fund.

When Rosario received an email saying she qualified for funds, she was grateful.

“Without the gift, I don’t know what I would have done. The money given to me went directly to pay for my classes. Now I can stay on course to graduate,” she said. “I am beyond grateful that someone who I don’t even know would give a gift to me like this one.”
