Barbara Gordon was recognized by Grand Valley State University in 2005 for her community philanthropy and commitment and was inducted into the University Hall of Fame along with her husband, George. Together they have also provided financial support to local children’s health and art initiatives such as Spectrum Health, Camp Blodgett, and the George and Barbara Gordon Gallery for over 30 years. 

Along with her husband, Barbara donated numerous Mathias J. Alten paintings to Grand Valley, which are on display in the George and Barbara Gordon Gallery. Barbara and George have been long-time supporters of Grand Valley and the West Michigan community through hands-on philanthropy and service directly to people. They are members of Mayflower Congregational Church. Barbara is also a member of the Women’s City Club and involved in the Kent Garden Club.
