"Dear Mr. Lubbers,
Spending time at GVSC during your reign was delightful for me. I was a cheerleader so spent much time at the fieldhouse and was fortunate enough to travel to Elon, NC with the football team and also with the basketball team to Kansas City. Many happy memories of being a student at GVSC. I remember seeing Mr. Lubbers in the stands many times. He also went to high school in Holland along with my mother, Audrey (Nyland) Whipple. Wonderful man!
Thank you for your time spent at GVSC!!!!! Go Lakers :)
"Thank you for the great vision and dedication. GVSU is the fine educational institution today because of your efforts. My many years as a special education principal would not have happened without GVSU.
My Memories of President Lubbers:
I enjoyed our student lunches in your Zumberg library office.
You served me pizza so well that I earned the GVSC pizza eating championship in the winter of 1970.
You were always available to students.
"Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for the Grand Valley Community. You truly are a "Laker for a Lifetime"."
Thank you for everything you have done to make Grand Valley State the place it is today.
Without your leadership and commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, GVSU would not have the sterling reputation it enjoys. Thanks to your foresight and wisdom, I can not only proudly say I am a GVSU alumnus, but that I am also a Lakers fan.
I'm also very proud of the fact that GVSU is a Division II institution, proudly maintaining the balance between sports and education - making Grand Valley a model to which all universities ought to strive.
Thank you, again, for everything you've done and continue to do, and making our lives and Lakers fans and alumni that much better; you cannot imagine the personal impact on my life you have had. Your leadership has provided me with an education and a great pastime I can share with my family and friends: cheering on the Lakers."
"Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Grand Valley State University. You truly are a Laker for a Lifetime!"
