Frequently Asked Questions
Themes
Are Themes going away? As one of the signature components of GVSU's General Education Program, Themes are definitely not going away. Can I pick classes from two different Themes? No. Themes were designed around one major concept and are intended to help you expand your knowledge around that concept. Can I create my own Theme? No. There are a broad range of courses offered in each of our Theme groups and flexibility is provided within that range. Where are PHI 340 and BIO 103? PHI 340 and BIO 103 no longer exist. If you took either course before they were removed from the curriculum, they will count in whichever GE category they were in. How do I get a permit to enroll in a Seidman (Business) course? You need 55-credits by the time you take a 300/400 level Seidman College of Business course. Non-business majors with the credits and a 2.0 to 2.749 overall grade point average (GPA), and an officially declared Seidman majors with the credits a 2.5 to 2.749 overall GPA will need to e-mail their names, G-number, course, and semester to go2gvbiz@gvsu.edu for an override to register. I'm confused about what I can take from within the Gender, Society, and Culture Theme. How do I know?
