FACULTY TRAVEL GRANTS PRESIDENTIAL TEACHING INITIATIVE GRANTS

Description: A non-competitive grant to help defray the costs of attending teaching-related conferences and workshops, or for small, teaching related research projects. The use of funds does not require the presentation of papers.

Maximum Award: $500 and $750

  • $500 for domestic travel, Canada, and Mexico.
  • $750 for international travel, Hawaii, Alaska, and weeklong workshops.

Deadlines: First come, first serve basis until funds are depleted for the quarter (usually within 2-3 weeks).

Description: A competitive grant that enables units or interdisciplinary groups to mount broad, imaginative projects that will result in new or revised curricula and/or pedagogy.

Maximum Award: $15,000. 2-3 grants awarded per year, depending on funds.

Deadline: February 1 only.

A pre-proposal, due the first Friday of the Winter semester, is strongly recommended.

PEW SCHOLAR TEACHER GRANTS PEW "MASTER TEACHER RESIDENCY" GRANTS

Description: A competitive grant to encourage teaching-related projects that promote teaching innovation and renewal and would go beyond the customary expectations of course development.

 Maximum Award: $5,000 - $7,500
The two levels are differentiated by the size, depth, breadth, and impact of the project.

Deadlines: October 1, February 1, April 1.

Description: A competitive grant that provides funds for departments to bring in pedagogical experts from their discipline for a short-term residency on campus.

Maximum Award: $5,000; one award per department every two years.

PEW TECHNOLOGY ENHANCEMENT GRANTS PEW TEACHING CIRCLE GRANT
Description: A competitive grant for faculty to purchase materials beyond the unit's customary budget to enhance a new or existing course.

Maximum Award: $3,000.

Deadlines: October 1, February 1, April 1.

Description: A non- competitive grant to facilitate faculty dialogue related to some aspect of teaching and/or learning. The initial meeting of the Circle must be publicized campus-wide and be open to any faculty member interested in the issue.

Maximum Award: $250
