Faculty Reflections

"The Lilly Conference on Evidence-Based Teaching and Learning brings a crowd of deep thinkers to consider how to play the game of school well, and how to make teaching a good game."
Faculty Member, Padnos College of Engineering and Computing.

"The Lilly Conference was an eye-opening experience for me. I learned many new ways to tweak my lectures and labs that are immediately applicable. I am already thinking of ways to insert them into my lectures without overwhelming the students with the changes I want to make. One of the most surprising things about the conference was how open everyone is to sharing their teaching failures and what they are doing to overcome them. The networking and side discussions with faculty in other colleges and universities as well as colleagues from GVSU in different departments was an unexpected bonus. Perhaps the most beneficial aspect of the conference was having my teaching techniques validated. The conference has reinvigorated me. I plan to attend again next year!"

"Discussions at meals as well as breaks and poster sessions were very helpful and provided the spark of energy and enthusiasm, coupled to new ideas and approaches, that made attending the Lilly conference an inspiring as well as rejuvenating experience. Attending this meeting allowed me not only to share my findings, but expanded my thinking on college education and provided me with ideas on how to expand my own teaching."
