Hispanic Family-Owned Businesses in Kent County, Michigan
Carol M. Sánchez
In their recent book titled Managing for the Long Run, Miller and LeBreton-Miller (2005) argue that many characteristics of family businesses that are often thought to be weaknesses are actually sources of success and competitive advantage. Those characteristics include stable strategies, clan cultures, lifetime tenures, and commitment to community. This project will undertake a study of Hispanic family-owned businesses in West Michigan to determine the extent to which these characteristics are present and emerge as contributions to business success.
