The Impact of Family Influence Level and Family Influence Type on the Performance of Family Businesses in Germany and France
Peter Jaskiewicz
2007
This paper represents an empirical, large scale, international project. Based on agency theory, the research idea is to see how 1. the level of total family influence measured with the power subscale of the F-PEC (family voting rights + family management presence + family board presence) and 2. the type of family influence (family business presence/ family voting rights) affect corporate performance. Recent theoretical work (i.e., Kellermans & Eddleston, 2007) suggests that family influence level and type have to be distinguished as they have different effects on family business performance.
