FFOBS: A Proposal to Develop a Culturally Sensitive Scale to Measure Family Dynamics, Business Dynamics, and their Interface
Nancy Levenburg
2005

This project will consist of developing a new, culturally-sensitive scale for use within family owned businesses. The Family and Family Owned-Business Scale (FFOBS) will be designed to assess: family dynamics, family owned business dynamics, and the interface between those two systems within the context of specific cultures.

This scale will be developed for family owned business researchers and scholars. As the field of family business study continues to evolve, the need increases for a psychometrically sound and thorough assessment tool designed specifically for families and family owned businesses. Additionally, given the increasing population diversity in the United States, it is imperative that this scale is sensitive to cultural differences. The FFOBS will be developed specifically to measure key dynamics in families that own their own business, key dynamics in non-family owned businesses, as well as the interface between these two interlocking systems.
