<div>As a doctoral student at CeFEO and JIBS we offer you a full-time employment. Most of your</div><br />
<div>time will be devoted to your doctoral studies but you also will be able to gain experience in</div><br />
<div>teaching and administrative tasks. We seek candidates who has a strong wish to conduct high</div><br />
<div>level of academic scholarship on important topics within the fields of family business and/or</div><br />
<div>ownership (incl. corporate governance) that are of high theoretical, empirical and practical</div><br />
<div>relevance.</div><br />

<div>Eligible applicants must have completed their bachelor or master in a relevant discipline. The</div><br />
<div>main language of research and teaching at JIBS is English. You must be fluent in both written</div><br />
<div>and spoken English to be eligible to our doctoral program. Skills in other languages, including</div><br />
<div>Swedish is considered an advantage. An international outlook as well as prior research, teaching and/or professional experience are also considered advantageous, as is an ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders in and around the university environment.</div><br />

							<div>GVSU is pleased to announce a new offering from the Seidman College of Business &ndash; The Center for Leadership &amp; Innovation. This new initiative will be directed to public and private companies, including Family Owned Businesses. The focus of this new and exciting Center will be for leadership and innovation development for mid-to-upper level and high potential managers and executives. The Center will utilize resources both outside and within the University and will collaborate and engage the local business community. The Center will focus on performance and results, tools to translate education into ethical action, technology-based platforms to deliver content, integration with real-world business challenges, and instruction from battle-hardened executives. The objective will be to develop participants with the emotional fortitude and practical tools to handle the ever-increasing challenges of today&rsquo;s business environment.</div><br />

<div>Paul M. Heroman will lead the start-up phase, which will include the implementation and development of the Center. Mr. Heroman has held leadership roles in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, including his own consulting practice. He brings strong operational and business management experience, and last year completed the Executive MBA program at the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors. Recently, he has been involved with several start-up entities and participated in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation&rsquo;s &ldquo;Shifting Gears Program.&rdquo; He is very active in the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids East and resides, with his wife Barbara, in Grand Rapids.</div><br />

							<font face="Times-Bold"><font size="4"><strong>Tony Fang</strong>,</font>&nbsp;</font><font size="3" face="Times-Roman"><font size="3" face="Times-Roman">PhD, Professor of International Business at Stockholm University, Sweden has the pleasure of recruiting 40 young research assistants to participate in his research project &ldquo;Yin Yang &ndash; A New Perspective on Culture&rdquo; during 2012-2013. The project is funded by a research grant from Stockholm University School of Business with a number of activities planned including a sponsored travel to Sweden for an intensive global cross-cultural management workshop in the middle of 2012. The 40 young research assistants are expected to come from 40 different countries each of who meet the following criteria:</font></font><font face="Times-Bold"><font face="Times-Bold"><br />
<p align="left"><font class="Apple-style-span" size="3"><strong style="font-weight: bold; ">1.</strong> You are currently a PhD candidate or have recently obtained a PhD within a social science discipline (e.g.,management, business, communication, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, English literature,and so on); ideally you are under 35 years of age.</font></p><br />
<p align="left"><font class="Apple-style-span" size="3"><strong style="font-weight: bold; ">2.</strong> You have a burning interest in society, culture, human behaviour, language, political institutions, international relations, international business, and globalization.</font></p><br />

As part of its research mission, FOBI created the Research Scholars Program.</font></span><br />

<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; ">The purpose of the Research Scholars program is to encourage faculty and doctoral candidates to conduct new, high quality research with an emphasis on family business dimensions. Research may involve a broad range of issues and methodologies including theoretical, empirical, and case studies.</p><br />
</span></font><font class="Apple-style-span" face="'Times New Roman'" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(54, 54, 54); ">FOBI Research Scholars are required to disseminate the results of their research. viable methods include meetings, seminars, publications, and the classroom. In addition, Scholars are expected to convert the research into a publishable, refereed journal article with appropriate reference to FOBI for its support.</span></font></div><br />

The winning proposals each receive a stipend of $5000. This year, FOBI formed an alliance with the Family Enterprise Research Conference (FERC) to jointly recognize FOBI Scholars as part of the annual FERC Conference which took place in Grand Rapids, Michigan May 6-8th, 2011.&nbsp;</span><br />

The quality of the proposals receieved for the 2011 Research Scholar Program superseded previous years, making the decision to award the only four proposals difficult and exhilarating. The 2011 FOBI Scholars were announced at the International Gala Dinner on May 7th, 2011 during the FERC 2011.</font></p><br />
