myScholarships - External Scholarship Database

Grand Valley offers a scholarship-matching tool to help admitted students match with external scholarship opportunities. myScholarships – External Scholarship Database will prompt you to answer questions to help match you to scholarships for which you might qualify. These scholarships are provided by agencies, foundations, or other providers not affiliated with Grand Valley State University.

There are several types of scholarships available based on your major, minor, gpa, hobbies, interests, and more. These scholarships are from local, state or national organizations. Each of these scholarships comes from a reliable source.

To begin searching for external scholarship opportunities, please sign in to the database with your Grand Valley credentials (student network ID and password). If you are in need of assistance, please open the user guide for instructions.

External Scholarship Database FAQs

Scholarships provided by agencies, foundations, or other providers not affiliated with Grand Valley State University.

Yes, you will have to be admitted to Grand Valley and have your student credentials (network ID and password) to access this database.

You should log in periodically to check and see if there are any new scholarships you have matched to, or if there are new questions to answer to help match you to more opportunities. Scholarships are added throughout the year, so be sure to continue to log in.

It depends! The more questions you answer, the more scholarships you could be matched with now and in the future. If you have new profile questions to answer, you will see a gray bar on your Dashboard that states "You still have outstanding questions that may qualify you for more opportunities! Click here to continue answering more matching questions."

You can also view the questions you have already answered and update them by clicking on the Questions tab from your Dashboard on the left side of your screen.

If your major is Accounting, you will see two options: Accounting-ACC and Accounting-ACCC. Take a look at your accounting courses, if they have the prefix, ACC, then choose that major; if it is ACCC then you can choose that option.

After answering the questions, click on the “Scholarships” tab on the left menu to see the list of external scholarships to which you have matched.

Once you match to a scholarship, you will be able to click on each one and be re-directed to that scholarship’s website where you can complete the application for that opportunity.

At this time, this database does not house any Grand Valley endowed or department scholarships. This box will continue to show zero unless these scholarships are added. To access GVSU endowed and departmental scholarships, please use the Apply for myScholarships-GVSU Scholarships link below.

The scholarships team is here to help you! If you would like to schedule an appointment for assistance with your scholarship search and to receive feedback on your application, please email [email protected].
