Film and Video Production
The fiction filmmaking emphasis exposes students to the production of narrative fiction using 16mm film and digital formats. In addition to learning skills such as directing, camerawork, lighting, sound, and editing, students study the art and craft of storytelling and interpretation.
One of the highlights of the emphasis is the Summer Film Project, where students, faculty and industry professionals join forces to make a short film based on an award-winning screenplay. Summer films are shown to the public in Michigan and entered into film festivals worldwide.
