Brad Wallace
Director of Athletic & Recreation Facilities

Brad joined the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management Department in August 2005. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University while working within the Athletics department. After graduation he secured a Recreation Center Facilities Graduate Assistantship position at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. At SIU Brad received his Masters of Science degree in Sports Administration. Brad has worked a variety of event and facility management jobs to include positions with the West Michigan Whitecaps, Berlin Raceway, Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place. Along with normal daily work duties, he stays active through on campus committee work and involvement within professional organizations. Brad is married with two children and enjoys spending time with his family. Other interests include camping, hiking, cars, reading and traveling.

Whitney Marsh
Athletic & Recreation Facilities Manager (Recreation Center & Aquatics)

Whitney joined the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Department at Grand Valley in 2008 as the Graduate Assistant for the Laker Turf Building, now named the Kelly Family Sports Center. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Adult and Higher Education in May 2010. Since, October of 2010, she has been the Assistant Manager to the Athletic and Recreation Facilities at GV. Previously, Whitney received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Sport Management from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During her four years at Aquinas, Whitney played on the Women’s Basketball Team. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, and cooking.

Ryan Borchert
Athletic & Recreation Facilities Assistant Manager (Fieldhouse/Recreation Center,Staffing, Special Events, Summer Camps)

Ryan joined the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management team as an Assistant Manager in September of 2013. Prior to his current position Ryan was a Graduate Assistant within the same Department for the past two years while completing a Master’s Degree in Public Management. Before GVSU Ryan finished his undergraduate degree at Calvin College in Community Recreation. In addition to his Grad Assistantship at GVSU, Ryan has worked at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan as well as the West Michigan Sports Commission (also in Grand Rapids, Michigan). In his time away from work you can find Ryan spending time camping, fishing, and hiking whenever possible while also looking for ways to enhance his knowledge and skill set in the field of Athletic and Recreation Management.

Mark Nawrocki 
Athletic & Recreation Facilities Assistant Manager (Equipment, Maintenance, Special Events)

Mark joined the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Department here at Grand Valley on July 1, 2007 after 23 ½ years as a Customer Service Supervisor for Michcon/DTE. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a BBA and degree in Marketing and Business Communications. Mark has been married to his wife Kay for 36 years. They have four children and two grandchildren, 4 ½ and 2 ½ years of age. His responsibilities include managing locker rentals in the Rec/FH and maintaining the cardio and weight equipment in the Rec Center and FH, Odie Weight Room and oversees the South Complex as well as being event coordinator for events like Robotics, Wheelchair Sports Camp and outdoor summer sports camps in and around the Rec/FH. In his time away from work he enjoys sports, family, biking and following Notre Dame Athletics. He also announces football games for West Catholic High School, is the Athletic Director at Holy Spirit Parochial School and most Saturdays from mid-April till early September he can be found at Berlin Raceway in Marne where he works on his son Tyler’s race car which he owns. He also owns Earthtone Lawn Care, Snow Plowing and Landscape Services with another son.

Barry Hall     

Graduate Assistant (Fieldhouse & Recreation Center)

Barry Hall II joined the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management Department August 2013. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising Management from Michigan State University and Masters of Business Administration from University of Phoenix-Chicago. Barry has over 5 years of management, customer service and sales experience working with a variety of fortune 500 companies. Barry is currently working on his Masters of Education in Counseling. In Barry’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, watching and playing sports and traveling.

Joe Bitely
Climbing Center and Outdoor Adventure Center Manager

Joe Bitely joined the Athletic & Recreation Facilities Management Department in 2007. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from Western Michigan University. In addition to his regular duties, Joe instructs as an Adjunct Professor in the Movement Science Department and is the Advisor to the GVSU Backpacking club. Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and being active in a variety of adventure sports.

Lynnea MacGeorge
Athletic & Recreation Office Coordinator (Memberships & Finance)

Lynnea joined the Athletic & Recreation Facilities Management Department in July 2007 as the Department Coordinator. She studied accounting at Grand Rapids Community College and Movement Science Courses at GVSU. Lynnea competed at the Michigan High School softball state championships during her high school years. She has coached youth softball for many years as well as serving on the local community little league board as well as the Allendale High School Athletics Boosters president. In her spare time, Lynnea enjoys spending time with her family and staying active and healthy.

Dorothy Vice
Athletic & Recreation Facilities Office Assistant (Scheduling)

Dorothy graduated from GVSU in 2000 with a B. S. in Social Studies and began working in the Movement Science Department in 2001 as Academic Department Coordinator. She transferred to her current position, Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management Assistant, in 2005. Dorothy served a career in the military with time in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U. S. Air Force. During that time, she was an instructor at the Naval Air Traffic Control Schools as well as an Air Force Missile Launch Operations Unit and earned a degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Dorothy enjoys her dogs, loves to travel, and spends time with her husband and two sons which includes a lot of time watching sporting events.
