Mary Jo Miedema

Registered Nurse

Mary Jo has worked as a nurse for 42 years. She graduated from Butterworth School of Nursing and then went on to earn her BSN degree from Grand Valley State University. The first 21 years she worked as an ICU and OB nurse at Spectrum Health Butterworth. After completing her BSN at GVSU, she helped start the GVSU Family Health Center, where she has worked for the past 21 years.  She also earned a certification in case management in 2014.

Mary Jo works to help others become the best they can be, encouraging them to care for their physical, emotional, and spiritual health so they can enjoy a full and healthy life. She has a passion for health coaching and teaching people how they can better care for themselves.

Outside of work Mary Jo enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoys exercise, walking, reading, and all types of crafts from card making to sewing.  She believes an attitude of gratitude is what enriches her life and finds at least 3 things to be grateful for each day.
