Sustainable Agriculture Project CSA Shares

The GVSU Sustainable Agriculture Project is a 1-acre market garden located just south of the GVSU Allendale Campus on Luce Street.  Run by one staff member and a handful of motivated student interns, the project serves as a platform for education and research on food systems, experiential education, service-learning, and food justice amongst a variety of others.

This is an educational garden market, which means a number of things, not least of which is that through purchasing a share of the garden, you participate in the restoration of land, education of high school and college students, and continual advocacy for an alternative agri-food system in our small corner of the world.

Rather than pursue our goals of food justice and sustainable agriculture through traditional market mechanisms, purchasing a share of the garden’s produce allows you to receive organic and healthy food, but also assist in transforming our unsustainable economic system into one that protects and cherishes humanity, earth, and relationships.

It may be that on occasion you receive less of one vegetable and more of something else than you expected, but you can count on your weekly share of the produce to be picked fresh and representative of the best of our crops at that moment.

If you are unhappy with your share or your experience, please tell us.  This should be a mutually enriching experience, and we appreciate your support and advice!

All CSA members are invited to participate in Friday afternoon volunteer hours, from 1:00-4:00 at the farm.
