Explore the questions and challenges important to journalism, democracy, and personal sanity in the current practice and consumption of "the news" with NPR's Peabody Award-winning Scott Simon.

Simon has reported from every continent, covering wars, political campaigns, sieges, famines, hurricanes, earthquakes, civil wars, scandals, state funerals, and opening nights. He also is the host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday.

His is a deeply humane and thoughtful voice in the increasing "gotcha" cacophony and 24/7/365 omnivorousness of the mass media, and he comes to Grand Valley State University to address this worsening situation.

Among his other recognitions, Simon was awarded the Studs Terkel Media Award in 2009, is the only journalist on the new National Institute on Civil Discourse, and serves on the board of the Hemingway Collection at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
