Description of the Organization

This is a summer travel lacrosse organization. There are four teams that range from U13, U15, Varsity, and Varsity Elite. Athletes are from the Clarkston, MI area. We took trips to Chicago, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Traverse City.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I was the head coach for the Varsity Elite team. My job was to plan and create practices that will contribute to the growth of players' fundamentals, and their Lacrosse IQ's. I was in charge of travel, which was driving rental vehicles, and making sure coaches arrive safely and on time to the sites of their games.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned a lot about the game of lacrosse and about administrative issues when it comes to running a team. It was nice to work with other coaches who also have a vast knowledge of the game, which gives you different perspectives when it comes to teaching.

Favorite Part of the Experience

I really enjoyed being with the athletes, whether it was during a game, or during down time between games where you can learn more about what they want to learn. I also enjoyed off time with the coaches where we could sit and share our different philosophies about the sport with each other.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This experience has made be want to become a NCAA lacrosse coach someday. I love the sport and I love teaching it to people. This experience has really helped to shape where I want to go in my career.
