Major: International Relations Unlike other internships in which I have participated, I was only responsible for one project - I was to interview Saudi students studying in the United States and ask them for their impressions of the U.S, what they miss about home and what job prospects are like back home. I was assigned this task because the U.S embassy in Riyadh is not allowed to approach students in the country so they relied on me to gather this information. I reached out using social media and existing contacts to gather these interviews. I utilized a small questionnaire I composed.
Major: Engineering - Product Design and Manufacturing This co-op term, I worked offsite as a Product Launch Coordinator for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. I was in charge of line layout, inventory, training new employees, getting our orders built on time, and shipping and receiving. I also worked at a high tech manufacturing facility as a Quality Technician for the pilot line. There, I was in charge of collecting data so that we could show the capability of our machines and processes.
Major: Allied Health Science I worked on a wide variety of tasks and projects in my time at TURAS. My supervisor aptly said that there is no such thing as a 'typical day at TURAS.' Each day had different tasks to complete and matters to attend to. My role on paper was to help the Tutors, but this took on many forms. I often supervised breaks, sat in on sessions, and prepared rooms for sessions, but I also served as a photographer and cameraman on occasion, helped students write their resumes, and even helped to carry boats that the students made from scratch.
