Major: Allied Health Science On a daily basis I would observe therapy sessions and assist when appropriate or needed. I was essential in keeping clients safe on therapy gym equipment such as the rock wall, scooter board, or any of the various suspended equipment used at the clinic. I was able to participate in interactive play with clients and observe therapy techniques. Other duties of mine consisted of office tasks such as: filing, scheduling, answering the phone and taking payments/printing receipts for clients. It was also essential that I help keep the facility clean as it was a collective effort of all staff to maintain a safe and clean therapy environment. I completed projects throughout my time at Sensory Systems Clinic West which included but are not limited to: a new book checkout spread sheet, a parent resource list with alternative therapies, funding, camps etc., a binder for our picture schedule chart, informational flyers, a challenge chart for clients and a productivity report for the clinic.
Major: Engineering - Product Design and Manufacturing This co-op term, I worked offsite as a Product Launch Coordinator for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. I was in charge of line layout, inventory, training new employees, getting our orders built on time, and shipping and receiving. I also worked at a high tech manufacturing facility as a Quality Technician for the pilot line. There, I was in charge of collecting data so that we could show the capability of our machines and processes.
Major: Health Professions My summer project was to rewrite the registration policy for the ER. I observed in the emergency department, followed along with the registration desk employees, and was trained on the Health Quest computer system to gather information on how to fix the policy. I also collected all insurance information from every coordinator and created a data base so new associates can easily gain access to all insurance companies. Created maps with the original floor plans of the hospital showing how to get to the conference rooms. I also wrote directions to every location in the hospital.
