Description of the Organization
Magna Mirrors is divided into several subgroups, the group I was in was Advanced Product Development. Inside our subgroup we had a number of engineers working under our manager, and working in parallel with other groups (ie design, manufacturing)
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Primary projects i worked on were two innovation projects, some quality testing for various programs, and a wide variety of miscellaneous non-PDP development.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned a large amount about the function, design, and assembly of door handles, inside mirrors, and outside mirrors. Additionally i learned a large amount about trouble shooting, design of experiment, and CAD related to the mentioned fields.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op was being able to tackle real problems which had a variety of solutions to solve. Additionally I felt like I was challenged in a wide variety of skills which allowed me to learn further.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This co-op made me realize the complexity that can be found in common products around us, and that I do not need to aim for companies in the defense industry to find a career field I enjoy.
