Description of the Organization

Our team consisting of our candidate, Sandra Bucciero, our campaign manager, and 11 college-aged interns spent the entire summer knocking doors and campaigning for a special election taking place in Michigan's First House District.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

While knocking doors was the vast majority of our responsibility, we also worked on earning endorsements, sending out press releases, creating and designing literature, submitting financial reports, event planning, and volunteer organization.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained a vast plethora of skills through this experience, but to highlight a few things, I learned more about my community and the issues that impact it, I learned how to connect with voters, I learned all of the various aspects that go into running a campaign, and I learned how to work well with others that share a common goal.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part would have to be knocking doors and talking to voters. Learning about an individuals values and issues, connecting with them, and finding a way that we can try to help them through potential legislation was a great experience for me.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

Going into this internship, I knew that my goal was to someday do the very same thing, run for this State Representative in this district, District 1. This internship taught me exactly what goes into doing so and made me even more excited to do just that.
