Description of the Organization
The Caledonia Athletic Department consist of mainly 2 people, the athletic director and his secretary who work hand in hand to get things done efficiently and effectively with occasional help from faculty of the main office and coaches. Their mission is to maintain a strong and successful foundation for the athletic program.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Tasks included scheduling, set-up/tear down, admissions, game manager, student-athlete eligibility, official and game contracts, communications with parents, coaches and other ADs', etc. Worked closely on projects like new strategic plan for the District Athletic Code and Coaching Handbook.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained more detailed knowledge on expectations and preparations at the high school level, as well as gaining more confidence with my own skills and abilities from the positive feedback and overall experience.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The trust and sharing new and old experiences with the AD, and the rest of the faculty. Them giving me important tasks and trusted me to work on my own in their roles. This helped me learn quickly on the go and have a greater respect for my position because it was significant. I have built good relationships and enjoyed working for Caledonia very much. There's no doubt that the experience I have gained here will be a significant reason in the success with my future career and endeavors.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This position has just solidified more where I want to go with my career path, as well as the confidence to be able to succeed there. Personally, it has put me both physically and mentally back on track, and ready to move forward in my life.
