LIB 100 & 201 Approved!
Come listen and learn from Dave Watt, supervisor for HIV Prevention and Early Intervention Services at CARES and the Founder/Creator of the Mr. Friendly anti-stigma campaign. With his BS in Secondary Education from Calvin College, he has co-authored a curriculum to train teams on how to use uplifting messages, creative event ideas and motivational interviewing techniques to reduce stigma of HIV one conversation at a time. Dave's classes, such as "HIV: Beyond the Basics," "Erotic Negotiation" and "Everything Butt," are interactive, educational and sex-affirming, emphasizing how we can all help create a world stigma-free of HIV.
As a Michigan Certified HIV Counselor/Tester, he has developed a new format for promoting HIV/STI testing while offering one-on-one counseling for people living with HIV called "Friendly Fifteen: 15 Minutes to Focus on Health." He has given interviews featured in Chicago's Grab Magazine, Poz Magazine, PositiveLite.com and more. AN interdisciplinary, sex affirming conversation that will discourage the use of stigma and further oppression of individuals living with /loving someone with HIV /Aids.
