As a part of our week long series, Conversations on Loving Your Body, the Women's Center will be showing noon time movies in the Kirkhof Center Theatre.

Monday, Feb 21, Noon: The Codes of Gender, Identity and Performance in Pupular Culture. "Communication scholar Sut Jhally applies the late sociologist Erving Goffman's groundbreaking analysis of advertising to the contemporary commercial landscape in this provacative new film about gender as a ritualized cultural performance" (Media Education Foundation)

Tuesday, Feb 22, Noon: Killing Us Softly 4, Advertising's Image of Women. "In this new, highly enticipated update of her pioneering Killing Us Softly series, the first in more than a decade, Jean Kilbourne takes a fresh look at how advertising traffics in distorted and destructive ideals of femininity" (Media Education Foundation).

Wednesday, Feb 23, Noon: America the Beautiful. "Is America Obsessed with Beauty? This documentary explores America's unhealthy, abnormal obsession with beauty, unveilling the cruel reality that results from America's relentless pursuit for body and beauty perfection" (A Film by Darryl Roberts).
