Terra Firma Society for Traditionalists!

GK Chesterton

GK Chesterton

Date and Time:

Thursday, December 1, 2011
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Location:

  • DeVos Center » 202E - Conference Room

Description:

What: The Terra Firma Society for Traditionalists, Grand Valley’s one and only academic student group dedicated to the quest for liberty and order in the university and in society through the reading and discussion of conservative books and essays.

Why: Conservatism.  Sound boring?  Well it’s not.  Here’s your chance to learn about and discuss the ideas that shaped America and continue to be relevant today.  Get to know like-minded people, while growing as a person and confronting the highest things in our lives.  Conversation ranges from the pop-cultural to the philosophical and everywhere in between.  We welcome all who are interested to open and intellectual discussion.

When: Thursday evenings at 8:00PM.  The introduction meeting is Thursday, September 15th, with meetings continuing throughout the semester.

Where: Pew campus, 202E DeVos. Email TerraFirmaSociety@gmail.com

Even Better: Terra Firma, although an independent, student-led group distinct to GVSU, is an associated group of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI).

What more, you may ask: What group on campus can boast of having C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Russell Kirk, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn as active members? The Terra Firma Society for Traditionalists can!  Check us out next Thursday at 8.
