As we move into the world of networks, we need to find new ways of thinking together, says Ed Morrison of Purdue University, originator of Strategic Doing. Strategic Doing was designed as a tool for cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration and has been used widely with business and governmental entities for economic development. Bob Brown, MSU faculty, who has expanded the application of the tool to neighborhood groups, is now working with Purdue to provide training opportunities in Michigan. GVSU's Office for Community Engagement is hosting the event for GVSU faculty and members of our West Michigan community, with a mix of all sectors. The training offers participants the opportunity to learn, practice, and evaluate the Strategic Doing process as a way to support university/community partnerships, encourage action, shorten the feedback loop in learning, and build capacity for change broadly, not just in leaders.
