Strange Fruit Series: A Call to Activism: The Power of Your Voice - LIB100/201 Approved!
Date and TimeThursday, October 3, 2013
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- Kirkhof Center » RM 2266
The second conversation held October 3, 2013 by Professor Stevens will address activism/advocacy as the big picture. We want the students to be motivated and feel like they have the power to create change in their community and ultimately the world. Mobilizing our members or calling them to action is how we feel we would change the face of this campus. We want to help these individuals in the session understand the power and voice they have to create change. These conversations are important to be had because as a student of color at a predominately white institution we experience interactions that may not always be positive. Education in ways to handle racism and differences is crucial to the success of GV and its growing minority population.
