Dublin (Ireland) and Derry & Belfast (Northern Ireland, United Kingdom) - While sharing much with its neighbor, the Republic of Ireland, the political, social and historical features of Northern Ireland make it a strikingly different place. These important features are the basis for exploration and analysis in the Peace, Conflict, and Reconciliation study abroad program. After spending two days in Dublin, students will travel to Derry, where they will study the culture and history of Ireland and conflict in Northern Ireland, and spend several days working with organizations focused on reconciliation and conflict resolution. The group will then travel to Belfast where students will attend classes on conflict transformation, peace, and reconciliation and visit local peace organizations. There will also be a number of cultural and site seeing excursions in Derry and Belfast, and on the northern coast.
