Native American Heritage Month: Traditional Native Art Celebration

This event will higlight the rich culture and traditions of Native Americans. Local artists will be on hand to demonstrate their work as well as the teachings and spiritual beliefs they represent. Students will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue and gain hands-on experience in working with beading, jewelry making, basket weaving and hand drumming. This event is "open house" style, so please stop by when your schedule allows.
Connections to the Classroom
1. Upon completion of this program, attendees will be able to discuss how Native communities teach their youth about rituals, traditions and culture through the art. (Integrative Learning)
2. Upon completion of this program, attendees will be able to describe the cultural significance of native crafts and the role they play Native traditions. (Intercultural Knowledge and Competence)
