This program will feature a panel discussion on the experience of music-making and music-listening and the roles it plays in contemporary society. The experience of music is not restricted to concert stages, and panelists will discuss in what other ways they have tried and and continue to try to enhance the experience for all. They will also discuss how music can provide meaningful resources to tackle social issues. Panelists include current GVSU music faculty and students as well as two guests artists, Jia Kim, cellist and artistic director of International Music Sessions, and Miki-Sophia Cloud, violinist from Boston’s A Far Cry and artistic director of the White Mountains Music Festival. Students are encouraged to interact with the panel through relevant questions and discussion. The program will also include a three-minute musical introduction.
