This month's lecture will feature guest speaker Dr. Paul Isely, Chair of GVSU's Economics Department. The presentation will focus on comparing the costs of wind generated electricity with other forms of generation specific to West Michigan. In addition, benefits of the primary energy sources are explored to provide a framework for determining the viability of wind as an energy source. The benefits include things such as jobs, local energy sourcing, manufacturing, construction, and certainty of cost structure. The costs include; weather generated electricity, issues with housing, issues with wildlife, and known health issues. The results presented will be from an integrated assessment funded by Sea Grant and an analysis of wind energy funded by the Seidman College of Business.
