Intro to Climbing - Students
Date and TimeMonday, February 6, 2017
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
- Field House » 170C - Climbing Center
This is a small-group clinic scheduled during our open-hours that is meant for GVSU students who have little to no experience with the sport of rock climbing but are interested in learning in a more structured way. If you have lots of questions about how to get started, what to expect when you visit the open hours, what equipment is involved, and/ or basic climbing technique, this workshop will be perfect for you. We will do our best to tailor each workshop to fit the desires of the participants but if it's all the same to you, here's what we plan on discussing:
- Different styles of climbing
- Standard equipment & what it's used for
- Routes & how are they rated
- Basic climbing technique
- General safety
Some of the components may involve active participation so please come dressed in comfortable clothing suitable for being on the wall.
Due to the duration of a proper lesson, this workshop will not cover technical belay instruction.
Please RSVP at least 24 hours prior to the event so we may adequately prepare.
