DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The purpose of the fireside chats is to provide a safe environment for diverse women from across campus to engage in intercultural education, while also getting to know each other and building relationships.&nbsp; Present in all of the workshops is an opportunity for &ldquo;storytelling&rdquo; &ndash; modeled after Greg Tanaka&rsquo;s work, author of The Intercultural Campus:&nbsp; Transcending Culture and Power in American Higher Education (2003).&nbsp; The fireside chats were born out of the Women&rsquo;s Commission but serve to support the mission/vision of Grand Valley State University as it works to model its values of inclusion and equity.\r\n
