Are you interested in learning how you can be an ally to the LGBT community?\r\n
\r\n
	Join us for ally training!\r\n
\r\n
	 \r\n
\r\n
	\r\n
Ally training is a three-hour commitment where participants examine the concepts of gender, sex and sexuality; learn about the inequality LGBT people face; examine heterosexual and cis-gender privilege as well as how we can leverage our privilege to create a more just society.\r\n
		\r\n
Participants have the opportunity to learn how to be an ally to the LGBT community. An ally can merely be someone who is supportive and accepts the LGBT person, or an ally can be someone who personally advocates for equal rights and fair treatment. Allies are some of the most effective and powerful voices of the LGBT movement. Not only do allies help people in the coming-out process, they also help others understand the importance of equality, fairness, acceptance and mutual respect (GLAAD, 2007).\r\n
	\r\n
The LGBT Resource Center offers numerous trainings per year and to register for this training please contact our office at (616) 331-2530 or email lgbtcenter@gvsu.edu. Join us and learn more about your own power to create positive change on our campus, in the community, and in the world!\r\n
