This program will involve the viewing of the documentary A Vital Service: African-American Stories of Reproductive Health Care. In it, the services offered by Planned Parenthood are explained. Statistics of disproportionate rates of reproductive and sexual health issues are presented. Female, African-American legislators are interviewed and cultural issues are explained. A panel of professionals will be on hand to reflect on the issues as well as host question/answer session.
Upon completion of this program participants will gain a better understanding of the types of services that Planned Parenthood offers.
Upon completion of this program participants will learn about reproductive and sexual health issues that disproportionately affect African American women.
Upon completion of this program participants will understand the positive impact that planning parenthood can have on a woman’s ability to pursue life goals.
