This program will involve viewing part IV of the documentary series “The Weight of the Nation” which seeks to explore the issue of obesity as well as it’s contributing factors and possible solutions. Further, it examines the major driving forces causing the obesity epidemic, including agriculture and the changes in our food production, farming policy, economics, evolutionary biology and hunger, food marketing, racial and socioeconomic disparities, physical inactivity, American food culture, and the strong influence of the food and beverage industry.
Following the viewing of the 55 minute segment, small group discussion will be facilitated exploring strategies to adress the problem and identifying resources for attendees to consider.
