The 7th Annual Art & Science of Aging Conference will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the GVSU DeVos Center, in the Loosemore auditorium and related rooms. This year's conference theme is: Navigating the Transitions of Later Life.
Keynote Speaker is Molly Mettler, MSW, Senior Vice President for Mission, Healthwise, Inc. in Boise, ID. Her presentation is entitled: Mom, I Think We Should Talk: Preparing for the Final Transition.
Also registered participants can choose from 12 hour-long workshops on a range of later life and end of life topics, such as the Affordable Care Act, advanced directives, brain health and cognitiive skills, grandparenting, widowhood, caregiving, living with chronic pain, and others.
Student research posters on aging topics will also be featured.
The closing session involves an elder-law expert and several actors, enacting examples of frequently faced legal issues of later life.

This university-wide conference is hosted by the College of Community and Public Service, under the auspices of the Gerontology Initiatives Workgroup and the School of Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration. The event is co-sponsored by the GVSU Provost Office and the Geriatric Education Center of Michigan at MSU College of Human Medicine.
Registration: $20 general public; $15 for students and older adults (aged 60+)
