Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 7:30 pm, Park Church, Grand Rapids: GREAT AMERICAN VOICES SERIES Collaboration Concert
Building on the success of the February 2015 Collaboration Concert at Park Church, this year's collaboration is expanded to include west Michigan's well-loved Holland Chorale. The concert begins with Ellen Pool, Director of Choral Ensembles at GVSU, leading the University Arts Chorale in selections with piano. Next, Patrick Coyle, Park Church Minister of Music, conducts the Park Chancel Choir and the Holland Chorale, accompanied by the GVSU Symphony Orchestra, in a performance of Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. The evening will climax with two sections of Alexander Borodin's powerful opera, Prince Igor. The GVSU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Henry Duitman, will present the rousing Overture and then the three choirs, 120 voices strong, will join the orchestra for the opera's exhilarating Polovetsian Dances.
This concert is free and open to the public, but donations given will benefit string scholarships at GVSU.
