Required meeting for all students currently enrolled in English 308
Students will listen to presentations by administrators and teachers in West Michigan at public, private and charter schools. Students will then choose the school where they will do their observations and tutoring for a total of 20 hours this semester. Decisions may be made at the meeting or no later than September 17th. Placements are done on a first come/first served basis. Students must bring their current state information identification i.e. for most the drivers' licenses or other state information card and be prepared to complete a background history. The school ithen submits the students' histories to the state. If a student passes the background check, the site Information including days and times to observe and tutor is then given to the students' English 308 professor or lecturer. Observations will begin the week of September 24th and the first two tutoring sessions will begin the week of October 1st. Students who have a GVSU class against the meeting should go to their class or advise the teacher and s/he may or may not excuse you for a period of time.
