When European goods first made their way to the interior on North America, Natives would often treat them as a raw material rather than an end product. This talk explores trade goods used by natives in the Great Lakes region, focusing on reworked glass pendants made from glass beads and adornments made from copper-base metal kettles.
Dr. Heather Walder is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Michigan State University.
