Description

Kaylee and Rachel Britton bring together a mingling of performance, gender, and art, with a full day of performances, discussions, and a live drag show during the reception.

ITINERARY: 

11am-12pm: Jae Basiliere, Assistant Professor of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies--Presentation on drag culture / history of LGBT+ communities and academic research on drag kings. Snacks will be provided.

12pm-2pm: Film screening of "Paris is Burning", followed by discussion lead by artists, Kaylee and Rachel Britton. Snacks will be provided.

2pm-5pm: Open discussion with drag performers as they put their makeup on for their evening performance. Watch Salem Massacre, Jack Dupe, Ginger Ambrosia, and Beeka Darwin apply their transformative makeup and create their characters while having an open discussion on activism, academia, art and photography and how these topics, and more, intersect with drag. 

5pm-6pm: Art is a Drag show reception. Snacks will be provided.

6pm-7pm: Live drag show with Salem Massacre, Jack Dup, Ginger Ambrosia and Beeka Darwin, followed by a Q&A session with the performers and artists. 

7pm-8pm: Drag queen / king life drawing. Bring your own materials and sketch the performers while they pose as their character in drag. 

8pm-10pm: Open mic! Performance space open to any and all acts--poetry, comedy, drag, etc! Come with materials, acts, songs, and anything you need to perform. All are welcome to attend and / or perform.
