The Student Chapter of the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) shall be an association of students interested in persons with exceptionalities. In this nature, it shall present students with opportunities to improve professional standards and/or increase awareness of children and youth with exceptionalities. It shall also be the focal point for the professional preparation for any student interested in services for children and youth with exceptionalities.

The purpose of this chapter shall be to advance the education of individuals with exceptionalities and to promote related educational, scientific, and charitable purposes. SCEC will also disseminate information to inform its members and the public of issues, legislation, and current trends in serving individuals with special needs. Student CEC shall be free from discrimination because of age, color, disability, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex or gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight.
