The Educational Support Program
MarcQus Wright currently serves as the Director of the Educational Support Program (TRiO/SSS). Before his current position MarcQus held a number of different positions at Grand Valley all centered on impacting student success. He began work with GVSU in 2005 in Housing and Residence Life working as a living center director. After this he also spent time working as the assistant director of camps and conferences and later the assistant director of academic student support.
Throughout all his positions at Grand Valley the thing that ties them all together is the direct contact MarcQus is able to have with students.
MarcQus has lots of experience working with underrepresented undergraduate students and engaging them academically and socially. He has mentored and advised students from pre-admission to graduation.
“I enjoy being able to have an impact on a large number of students, particularly those that are typically underrepresented or underserved,” said MarcQus. “Seeing students involved in a program where they can interact with one another, develop life goals and academic plans and succeed from year to year has been a rewarding experience regardless of the position I’ve been in.”
MarcQus has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Training and Development, and a certificate in Project Management all from Illinois State University. He is also a certified True Colors® facilitator. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University.
In his spare time MarcQus enjoys spending time with his family, going to see movies, reading, playing videos games, and blogging.
