ESSU: ERP Speaker Series-EV Technologies

Date: February 10th, 2015

Duration: 6:00 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.

This meeting took place in the Seidman Forum. Eric Vallo, Owner/Chief Architect of EV Technologies and SAP Mentor, gave a presentation about EV Technologies and business intelligence in general. This was the third installment of the ERP Speaker Series for the 2015-2016 school year and the first one of this semester.

Eric Vallo was joined by both Megan Laughlin, a former GVSU student and current Associate Business Intelligence Developer at EV Technologies, and Audrey Koons, a current GVSU senior and current intern at EV Technologies. EV Technologies is a seven-year-old business intelligence consultancy which is based in the U.S and Australia. As a SAP Partner, EV Technologies consults a variety of small to medium sized businesses where they help educate, license sales, and do analytic application development to provide business solutions. Eric opened up the presentation by defining what exactly business intelligence was and explaining his passion for it. Business intelligence is simply about data visualization and forecasting according to Eric. He then talked about the importance of “point-of-view” and how there is something for everyone in the SAP Ecosystem. Megan and Audrey then spoke about their journey through the ERP program at Grand Valley and where it got them. They also highlighted the day-to-day role of their current positions and how they are currently using new and exciting software at EV Technologies. Eric wrapped up the presentation by speaking about his career journey and gave advice to current students. The presentation ended at 6:40 p.m.
