Company Information Session Featuring Meijer - 11/09/2016

November 09, 2016

This meeting started at 6:15 p.m. and took place in the Seidman Forum. ESSU is very excited that Meijer has expressed an interest in recruiting our students. We were fortunate to have had several representatives come to our meeting to give a presentation on behalf of Meijer. Amity Tyler is a Project lead at Meijer. Genny Coyne is Organizational Change Management lead. Kevin Jackson is the Finance IT lead.  Dave Flickinger is a Procure to Pay IT lead. Josh Jaeger is a Development manager.

The focus of the presentation was Project LIFT which is Meijer’s SAP transformation which will launch them into the future as Amity explained. The first phase of Meijer’s transformation journey is deploying software for its finance and indirect procurement capabilities. They played a video from the 2016 SAP Sapphire event where their current CIO articulated their SAP journey and the reasons behind it.  The recently choose to implement SAP because they required an enterprise platform that supports their growth strategy and digital innovation. Meijer is becoming a more complex and diverse company with their expansion into new regions and also a focus on e-commerce and the curbside program. They will Go-Live with SAP S/4 HANA in the first quarter on next year just for their financial systems first. The software is being implemented in a hosted, cloud environment which reduces risk and it allows Meijer to focus on what they do best. They explained the overall strategic goal as having a differentiated customer experience. This consists of putting the customer first, leveraging of Meijer’s people and talent, and finally to raise their competitive game. Genny then talked about the system rollouts and their organizational change management process. Genny explained that it is the people side of change. During this time, students asked questions to all of the IT leads on various topics like collaboration through different business units and any challenges they face during the implementation. Amity brought up their 12-week internship program while highlighting the program’s events and benefits. After the presentation which ended at 7:22 p.m., students networked with the Meijer representatives.
