ESSU Company Information Session Featuring Biotest Pharmaceuticals Corporation - 3/2/2016

This meeting began at 6:00 p.m. in SCB 3001 on March 2, 2016. During this meeting, ESSU was fortunate enough to be able to chat with Johann Vaz via Skype. Johann is the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Biotest Pharmaceuticals Corporation which is located Boca Raton, Florida.
Johann has some ties to Grand Valley State and our ERP program. He is very interested in learning about our students in the program and wanted to offer his story and advice. Johann started by talking what exactly his company does. He said Biotest Pharmaceuticals Corporation is part of the life sciences industry where they take part in commercial manufacturing of pharmaceutical and bio-therapeutic products. He then gave a background of Biotest’s SAP history and revealed that they use SAP R/3. Johann also shared how it is like being a subsidy of a German parent company. Johann wanted to learn about the career goals of each ESSU member present. He then related each of our interests into one of the SAP modules that his company uses.
Johann was excited to hear our stories and desire to work with SAP. Johann has a strong passion for SAP and also Business Intelligence. SAP is just a tool do solve business solutions and a way to represent data in different ways. Johann believed being a business analyst is a great area to pursue and that we should learn SAP HANA because he feels like that will be the next big thing due to it being a memory database.
