We're Hiring!

The Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ENS) Program is hiring two students to fulfill part-time (Federal Work Study) Program Assistant positions in Fall 2022 and another student in Winter 2023. Applications are due by September 6th. Interviews will be virtual via Zoom or in person. Employment will start in fall or winter semester.

POSITION: Program Assistant
WAGE: $11.07/hour in Fall 2022; $11.30/hour in Winter 2023
HOURS & LOCATION: 14-16 hours/week with office coverage needed on Allendale Campus during business hours; some work may be completed remotely

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Provide administrative support for the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program
• Greet and appropriately direct faculty/staff, students, and visitors who enter or call the office
• Assist with program promotion and communication on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
• Design course flyers and other promotional materials
• Create and update documents and resources
• Assist with website maintenance and improving the accessibility of the website and departmental forms
• Aid in event planning, set up, and tear down
• Support ENS faculty/staff and office operations in other ways, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be eligible for Federal Work Study (If you're not sure, contact the Student Employment Office to inquire)
• Undergraduate student at GVSU
• Effective communication and strong writing skills
• Positive interpersonal skills
• Once appropriately trained, adept at taking initiative and working independently
• Receive guidance and constructive feedback from faculty/staff

DESIRED:
• Preference will be given to students pursuing a major or minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies 
• Knowledge of and familiarity using social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter
• Experience utilizing a program/software/app for graphic design/creating flyers, such as Canva, PowerPoint, or Publisher
